Sober Living in Columbus, Ohio

About Our Sober Living

Housing That Is Part of Your Recovery, Not an Afterthought

Stable housing is one of the strongest predictors of long-term sobriety.

Recovery is hard enough without worrying about where you will sleep tonight. Crown Behavioral Health's sober living program is built directly into our treatment model — not a separate service offered down the street, but a fully integrated part of your care plan.

Located in Columbus, Ohio, our sober living environment provides a safe, structured, and nonjudgmental space for adults in recovery. Residents receive the daily structure, accountability, and peer connection that make it possible to apply the skills learned in treatment to real life. Housing and healing happen together, not in sequence.

Who It Is For

Who Sober Living at Crown Is Designed For

Structured housing support for adults at any stage of recovery.

Our sober living program is open to adults who are actively engaged in treatment at Crown Behavioral Health or transitioning from a higher level of care. It is a strong fit if any of the following apply to you:

If you are not sure whether sober living is right for your situation, our intake team can help you think it through.

You are completing a PHP or IOP program and need a stable place to continue your recovery

Your current home environment poses a risk to your sobriety

You do not have safe or stable housing during treatment

You are transitioning out of a residential program and need structured support before independent living

You want the added accountability and community that comes from living alongside others in recovery

Daily Structure and House Rules

Structure and Routine That Support Sobriety

A clear daily schedule helps build the habits that make recovery last.

Recovery thrives in structure. Our sober living homes operate with clear expectations, a consistent daily routine, and house guidelines that keep residents focused and accountable. Life in our homes is not rigid — it is steady.

Residents are expected to:

These expectations exist to protect everyone in the home and create the kind of safe space where real recovery can happen.

Maintain sobriety and submit to regular drug screening

Participate in outpatient treatment, therapy sessions, or support group meetings

Contribute to household responsibilities on a rotating schedule

Follow curfew and guest policies

Treat housemates, staff, and the property with respect

Engage with case management and work toward independent living goals

Length of Stay

Length of Stay Is Based on Your Progress, Not a Fixed Timeline

You move forward when you are ready — not on a set schedule.

Length of stay in our sober living program is evaluated on an ongoing basis with your care team. Factors like your progress in treatment, your stability in daily functioning, and your readiness to transition to independent or supported living all play a role in that conversation.

Some residents stay for a few months. Others benefit from a longer period of structured support. What matters is that you leave when it is clinically appropriate and practically safe with a plan, a support system, and the tools to maintain your sobriety.

Common Questions

What people ask us

What is sober living and how is it different from inpatient rehab?

Sober living is a structured, substance-free housing environment for adults in recovery. Unlike inpatient rehab, residents live in a home setting and continue outpatient treatment, work, or school during the day. It provides the stability and accountability of a supportive environment without the intensity of 24-hour clinical care.

Do I have to be enrolled in Crown's treatment program to live in the sober house?

Sober living at Crown Behavioral Health is primarily designed for adults who are actively participating in our outpatient programs or transitioning from a higher level of care. Contact our admissions team to discuss your specific situation and we will determine the best path forward.

How long can I stay in sober living at Crown?

Length of stay is not fixed. Your care team will evaluate your progress, stability, and readiness for independent living on an ongoing basis. We do not set arbitrary discharge dates — you move forward when it is clinically and practically appropriate.

Is sober living covered by insurance?

Insurance coverage for sober living varies by plan. Our admissions team will review your benefits and help you understand your options. We work with commercial insurance, out-of-network benefits, and single-case agreements where applicable.

What happens if a resident relapses while in sober living?

A relapse does not automatically mean removal from the program. Our team will assess the situation clinically and work with the individual on a response plan that prioritizes safety and continued recovery. Our approach is compassionate first — we want to support people through setbacks, not abandon them.
