Intensive Outpatient Program in Columbus, Ohio
Flexible daytime and afternoon IOP sessions so you can get real clinical support without stopping work, school, or family life.

What Is IOP
What Intensive Outpatient Treatment Includes
IOP is structured, evidence-based care that fits around your real life.
An Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) gives you consistent, focused treatment for substance use or mental health challenges without requiring you to step away from daily life. You attend multiple group and individual therapy sessions each week, then go home and apply what you learn in real time.
IOP at Crown Behavioral Health in Columbus is built on evidence-based practices including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing. You also get support with relapse prevention planning, coping skills development, and building a stable recovery routine.
Who IOP Is For
IOP Works Best for People in These Situations
You do not have to be in crisis to benefit from IOP.
IOP is a strong fit at several stages of the recovery process. It is a common step-down from PHP or inpatient care, and it is also an effective starting point for people who do not yet need higher-intensity treatment.
Our admissions team will help you confirm the right level of care during your first call.
You are managing substance use or mental health symptoms that weekly therapy alone has not addressed
You are a working adult or college student who cannot commit to full-day programming
You have responsibilities at home, school, or work that you need to maintain during treatment
You want accountability and peer support alongside individual therapy
Weekly Schedule
Daytime and Afternoon Sessions Built Around Your Schedule
Crown offers two IOP session times so you can choose what works for your life.
Scheduling is one of the biggest barriers to starting treatment. Crown Behavioral Health offers both daytime and afternoon IOP sessions to remove that barrier for working adults, college students, and anyone with a variable weekly routine.
IOP sessions at Crown meet three days per week for approximately three hours per session, totaling nine or more hours of structured programming each week. Session days and times are confirmed during your intake appointment based on availability and your schedule.
What Happens in Sessions
What You Work on During IOP Sessions
Every session is focused on skills, connection, and real progress.
Sessions are not one-size-fits-all. Your treatment plan is built around your specific needs and goals, and it is updated as you make progress.
Our clinical team works together so your care stays consistent from session to session.
Group therapy focused on relapse prevention, emotional regulation, and coping skills
Individual therapy with your assigned clinician
Psychoeducation on addiction, mental health, and recovery
Accountability check-ins and peer support
Medication management coordination when clinically appropriate
Life skills support and discharge planning as you prepare to step down
Length of Program
IOP Length Is Based on Your Progress, Not a Fixed Timeline
Most clients complete IOP over eight to twelve weeks, but your plan may differ.
At Crown Behavioral Health, there is no rigid program length. Most people participate in IOP for eight to twelve weeks before stepping down to standard outpatient care. Your treatment team reviews your progress regularly and adjusts your plan as your needs change.
When you are ready to move to the next stage, we will transition you to our outpatient program with continued therapy and medication management so your recovery momentum does not stall.
